Many of us preppers carry a gun for self defense. Depending on where you live, you may have to jump through a lot of hoops to do so legally. But that may soon change in Maine.
On May 28 the Maine Senate approved a bill that would allow concealed carry without a permit. The existing permitting system would stay in place, since the permits are recognized as valid by some other states.
Maine law already permits individuals to carry firearms openly in most public places where guns are not explicitly prohibited.
Lawmakers supporting the bill argued that current law does little to prevent criminals from carrying concealed weapons and that law-abiding gun owners should not be criminalized for hiding firearms.
